Celebrating History in 2025

The importance of remembering Black History was celebrated at SUNY New Paltz earlier this year. The MWL Center was invited to attend and speak at the Annual Black History Convocation on February 17, 2025, at the Studley Theatre on campus. The celebration was well attended by the community with special guest Lt. Governor Antonio Delgado of New York as the Keynote

Speaker.

During the celebration Founder Esi Lewis shared the story of the historic Ann Oliver

House and the impact of learning about local Black History in New Paltz, NY. The ceremony

also honored Professor Ceista Little-Quinn with the distinguished Dr. Zelbert Moore Legacy Award. Quinn is a regular contributor and educator teaching the history of Negro Spirituals at many MWL Center community events.
